The death toll from wildfires in around the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee rose to 10 on Thursday, up from seven reported on Wednesday. Investigators have determined that the initial fire that sparked the larger blaze was human-caused. Much of the resort town of Gatlinburg has been reduced to ruins and authorities say more than 700 structures have been destroyed. This marks the highest number of deaths caused by a single wildfire in the U.S. since 19 firefighters were killed near Prescott, Arizona, in 2013.
