338 – 跑步奇遇 （上）

It was a beautifulThursday morning, and I was on my daily jog around my neighborhood. As Iapproached the intersection of Trafalgar St and 43rd Avenue, I ran into a crowdof people standing on the sidewalk. They were looking above, chit-chattingabout something on the tree.

那是一个美丽的周四早晨，我正在家附近做每日晨跑。当我走近Trafalgar St和43街的路口时，我遇到了一群人正站在人行道。他们朝上面看，在聊着树上的什么东西。

I went up tothem and asked, “What’s up there?”

我走过去问他们:“那上面是什么?”

“We don’tknow. Something is up there in the tree,” one of the gentlemen replied.

“我们不知道。树上有东西。”一位男士回答。

Somethingis up there in the tree? What could it be?I thought to myself, curious who the newcomer to ourneighborhood is.

树上有什么东西吗?会是什么呢? 我心里琢磨着，很好奇这个新的邻居是谁。

Then,another lady directed her finger to the centre of the tree, “If you come thisway, you can probably see it.”

然后，另一位女士用手指着树的中心位置说，“如果你到这边来，可能会看到它。”

So, I movedcloser to her, and suddenly, the black shadow came into my view, “Oh, I see it.It’s something black!” I shouted.

于是，我走近她，突然，一个黑影出现在我的视线里，“哦，我看到了，是个黑乎乎的东西!”我叫道。

Yes, thecreature was hidden in the tree, revealing only its furry back to us audiences.It was lying on one of the branches as tall as a 3-floor building. Whatcould it be? I wondered. To get a better view, I walked to the other sideof the sidewalk, an angle that no longer allowed the creature to shy away fromus. Suddenly, it moved!
