Plan to boost employment unveiled
'十四五'就业促进规划印发 

China's State Council has released a plan to boost employment during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). To achieve more employment and better quality jobs, efforts should implement the employment-first policy, improve the policy system, strengthen training services, and promote prosperity for all, the plan says. 
国务院日前印发《"十四五"就业促进规划》。《规划》指出，要以实现更加充分更高质量就业为主要目标，深入实施就业优先战略，完善政策体系、强化培训服务、推动全体人民共同富裕迈出坚实步伐。

By 2025, the country's employment situation will be generally stable, and the quality of employment would have steadily improved. Structural problems also would be effectively addressed by then, business startups would create more jobs, and the ability to cope with risks would be significantly enhanced, the plan noted. By 2025, China aims to add over 55 million new urban jobs and conduct skills training for employees engaging in new forms and models of businesses. It also aims to improve the public employment service system, increase people's income, and improve their rights and interests protection. Companies should shoulder their social responsibilities of being maternity-friendly, the plan noted.
到2025年，实现就业形势总体平稳、就业质量稳步提升、结构性就业矛盾有效缓解、创业带动就业动能持续释放、风险应对能力显著增强；城镇新增就业5500万人以上、广泛开展新业态新商业模式从业人员技能培训。《规划》还提出，要健全公共就业服务体系、提升劳动者收入和权益保障水平。将生育友好作为用人单位承担社会责任的重要方面。

CIFTIS boasts over 4,300 online exhibitors
服贸会纯线上参展企业超4300家

A total of 4,357 enterprises have registered to hold virtual exhibitions at the upcoming China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) as of Sunday noon, with no offline events planned, the organizers said. The number marks a 40 percent increase over last year's event, the organizers told a press conference in Beijing on Sunday. The fair's digital platform will allow the exhibitors to showcase products, hold online meetings and ink deals. 
2021年中国国际服务贸易交易会执委会会展活动组8月29日在媒体通气会上表示，2021年服贸会数字平台包含线上展台、云会议、云签约等功能，截至当日12时，纯线上参展企业4357家，同比增长40%。

The platform's online conference services will feature simultaneous interpretation for the convenience of overseas exhibitors, according to the organizers. The CIFTIS will take place in Beijing from Sept 2 to 7.
云会议室也增加了同声传译功能，为国际展客商提供服务支持。2021年中国国际服务贸易交易会将于9月2日至7日在北京举行。

Jacques Rogge passes away
国际奥委会前主席罗格逝世

Former International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge has passed away at the age of 79, the IOC announced on Sunday. Rogge was the eighth president of the IOC, from 2001 to 2013, after which he became honorary president. Rogge was an orthopedic surgeon with a degree in sports medicine. A life-long sports fan and an accomplished athlete, Rogge was a Belgian rugby champion and represented his country on the national team. He also competed in sailing at three editions of the Olympic Games, in 1968, 1972 and 1976. 
国际奥委会8月29日宣布，国际奥林匹克委员会前主席雅克•罗格去世，享年79岁。罗格于2001年到2013年任国际奥委会第八任主席，后担任名誉主席。他曾是一名矫形外科医生，拥有运动医学学位。作为一个终身体育迷和出色的运动员，罗格作为橄榄球运动员曾获比利时联赛冠军，并入选比利时国家橄榄球队。他还参加了1968年、1972年和1976年三届奥运会帆船比赛。

After his career as an athlete he became president of the Belgian and European Olympic Committees, and was elected president of the IOC in 2001. After his IOC presidency, he also served as a Special Envoy for Youth, Refugees and Sport to the United Nations. "The entire Olympic Movement will deeply mourn the loss of a great friend and a passionate fan of sport," said IOC President Thomas Bach in a statement. As a mark of respect, the Olympic flag will be flown at half-mast for five days at Olympic House, at The Olympic Museum and at all IOC properties.

US carries out airstrike in Kabul
美军在喀布尔实施空袭

US Central Command said on Sunday that US military forces carried out an airstrike in Kabul against a suspected ISIS-K vehicle, which could pose an imminent threat to the airport. The airstrike eliminated "an imminent ISIS-K threat to Hamad Karzai International airport," US Central Command Spokesman Bill Urban said in a statement, referring to a local affiliate of the Islamic State in Afghanistan. "We are confident we successfully hit the target. Significant secondary explosions from the vehicle indicated the presence of a substantial amount of explosive material," Urban said.

The airstrike came after US President Joe Biden warned on Saturday that another terror attack against Kabul airport could be "highly likely in the next 24-36 hours." It was the second US military strike in Afghanistan since a suicide bombing outside Kabul airport on Thursday killed 13 US service members and some 170 Afghans. ISIS-K had claimed responsibility for the attack.
