15. The Flies and the Honey Jar

After a jar of honeywas knocked over in a kitchen, the flies were attracted (吸引) by its sweet smell andbegan eating the honey. Indeed, they swarmed (聚集) all over it and did not budge (挪动) fromthe spot until they had devoured (吞) every drop. However, their feet had become soclogged (堵塞) that they could not fly away, no matter how much they tried. Stymied (阻碍) bytheir own voracious appetites (巨大的胃口), they cried out, “What foolish creatures (生物) we are!We’ve thrown away our lives just for the sake of (为了) a little pleasure.”
