Mensa's youngest American member
2岁女童入选顶级智商俱乐部

A California toddler is the youngest American to join Mensa - the oldest IQ society in the world. Kashe Quest, now 3, joined the American branch of the organization on March 29, 2021, at age 2 with an IQ of 146, making her the youngest American member, Mensa confirmed to "Good Morning America."

According to her parents, Kashe memorized the 50 states by shape and location and could name all of the elements on the periodic table by the time she was 2 years old. To qualify for Mensa membership, applicants must take an approved intelligence test. While they encourage Kashe's development and let her set the pace for what she wants to do, her parents also make sure to keep her balanced. Kashe's interests include "Frozen," "Paw Patrol," watermelon, swimming, messy paint and science experiments.

World's most popular emoji

The "laugh out loud" face is officially the world's most popular emoji, according to researchers from Adobe who surveyed 7,000 users across the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, Australia, and South Korea. The "thumbs up" emoji came in second, followed by the "red heart" emoji. The flirtatious "wink and kiss" and "sad face with a tear" emojis respectively rounded out the top five.

Adobe's latest Emoji Trend report also examined the three most misunderstood emojis in the world. The "eggplant" symbol edged out the "peach" and the "clown" emojis as the most confusing for users. The vast majority of emoji users (90%) believe the modern-day hieroglyphs make it easier for them to express themselves; 89% of respondents said emojis simplify communicating across language barriers. And 67% said they think people who use emojis are friendlier, funnier and cooler than those who don't.

"Underage influencers" phenomenon addressed

China's cyberspace watchdog vowed to address the phenomenon of promoting underage influencers on the internet, as part of its campaign that kicked off Wednesday to purify the online environment for minors. Launched during the period of summer vacation for school students, the campaign targets minor-related issues on livestreaming and short-video platforms, and prohibits minors under 16 from engaging in livestreaming performances, according to the Cyberspace Administration of China. 
为解决炒作未成年人网红等问题，中央网信办7月21日起启动"清朗•暑期未成年人网络环境整治"专项行动。其中，针对直播、短视频平台涉未成年人问题，严禁16岁以下未成年人出镜直播。

Activities such as inducing underage viewers to tip online, misleading them by flaunting wealth or advocating hedonism or sensational content will also be targeted in crackdowns by the campaign, the administration said. Regarding online education platforms, the campaign will remove erotic, vulgar and violent content, and ban them from advertising online games and vulgar publications and shows to underage users.
禁止诱导未成年人打赏行为，防止炫富拜金、奢靡享乐、卖惨"审丑"等现象对未成年人形成不良导向。针对未成年人在线教育平台，将全面清理在线课程中色情低俗、血腥暴力及其他导向不良内容，严禁推送网络游戏、低俗小说、娱乐直播等与学习无关的广告信息。

Whole grains good for health
多吃全谷物防中年发福

Eating porridge in later life can help you avoid the dreaded middle-aged spread, according to a new study. Researchers from Tufts University in Boston monitored 3,000 people in their mid-50s and found that those who ate three servings of whole grains a day had waist sizes two inches less than those who didn't consume the same amount, as well as lower blood pressure and lower blood sugar levels.

The US researchers believe the whole grains found in oats, as well as brown bread and brown rice, are the key to midlife weight loss. The study’s authors also found that nuts, chicken, seafood and yogurt are among the foods you should be eating to avoid putting on weight as you age. The study also looked at whether eating certain foods as part of the same meal contributed to people's weight. Eating foods linked with weight gain, such as red meat, with vegetables mitigated the weight gain.
