A/An = Indefinite article: non-specific or non-particular nouns 用于非特定名词前面

Countable vs Non-countable Nouns

“The” can be used with non-countable nouns.

I love to sail over the water. 我喜欢在水面上航行。

He spilled the milk all over the floor.  他把牛奶洒了一地。

The air smells so fresh. 空气闻起来很新鲜。

Mom puts a lot of ingredients in the congee. 妈妈在粥里放了很多食材。

Would you like milk and sugar in the coffee? 你的咖啡里要加牛奶和糖吗？

"A/an" can be used only with countable nouns.

I need a bottle of water. 我需要一瓶水。

I had a glass of milk. 我喝了一杯牛奶。

Can I have a scoop of ice cream? 我可以要一个冰淇淋球吗?

How much is a jar of honey? 一罐蜂蜜多少钱?
