In his first-ever resume, it's documented that Chen Qiaonian was born on Sep 2, 1902 in Huaining, Anhui province. In the photo, he looks bashful and shows a slight smile. In addition to this, netizens have also unearthed a number of details.
父亲一栏里，他写：“父，独秀。过去曾充教授，现在以革命为职业。”"Father: Duxiu. Used to live as a professor, now a revolutionary."

自创前程，走上革命道路

Biography of Chen Qiaonian

1902年9月2日，陈乔年出生于安徽怀宁。父亲是“新文化运动”领袖陈独秀，兄弟姐妹有延年、宛若、松年。童年和少年时光，陈乔年是与胞兄陈延年一起度过的。1914年到1919年期间，两人先后到北京、上海求学。

Chen Qiaonian was born on 2 Sep, 1902 in Huaining, Anhui province. His father was Chen Duxiu, the leader of the New Culture Movement, and his siblings were Yannian, Wanruo and Songnian. Chen Qiaonian spent his childhood and adolescence with his brother Chen Yannian, and between 1914 and 1919, they went to Beijing and Shanghai to study.

在上海读书期间，他们过着“食则夸饼，饮则自来水，冬仍衣袷，夏不张盖，与工人同做工”的日子。

During their studies in Shanghai, they did hard manual work with workers and lived a tough life

1919年底，陈乔年与哥哥一起赴法勤工俭学，并于1922年加入中国共产党。这一年，陈乔年20岁。

At the end of 1919, Chen Qiaonian went to France with his brother to work and study, and joined the Communist Party of China in 1922. That year, Chen Qiaonian was 20 years old.

1925年春 ，23岁的陈乔年奉中共中央指示回国工作。随后，他在北京区委担任重要职务，协助李大钊领导北方革命运动，与赵世炎等人一起工作。1927年，兄长陈延年牺牲后，陈乔年临危受命，担任了中共江苏省委组织部部长，义无反顾地追随着哥哥的脚步来到上海。

In the spring of 1925, at the age of 23, Chen Qiaonian was instructed by the Central Committee of the CPC to return to China to work. In 1927, after the death of his elder brother Chen Yannian, Chen Qiaonian was appointed as the head of the Organization Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and followed his brother's footsteps to Shanghai.

1928年，由于叛徒告密，陈乔年等人不幸被捕，敌人为了得到更多的机密，对陈乔年施尽酷刑。他始终咬紧牙关。行刑前，陈乔年对狱友们说：“让我们的子孙后代享受前人披荆斩棘换来的幸福吧！”

In 1928, Chen Qiaonian and others were unfortunately arrested due to a traitor's denunciation, and the enemy tortured Chen Qiaonian to get more secrets. He kept his teeth clenched. Before his execution, Chen Qiaonian said to his cellmates, "Let our children and grandchildren enjoy the happiness that predecessors have earned by beating the bush!"

那时陈乔年只有26岁。
