Episode 96: Bragging Rights
Badger and Rat held Toad in his chair.
“Look, Toad,” said Badger. “You will make no speeches.”
“You will sing no songs,” said Rat.
“Can’t I sing one little song?” asked Toad.
“Not one little song!” said Badger. “We know what your songs are like.”
Toad’s lip trembled.
“Your songs are full of bragging!” said Badger.
“Your speeches are full of boasting!” said Rat.
“Toad, it’s time for you to change,” said Badger.
Toad burst into tears. Badger and Rat looked at each other. Toad sniffed and wiped his tears.
“You’re right,” said Toad.
“I will be a different Toad from now on.”
Toad walked sadly out of the room. He shook his head from side to side.
“Oh dear!” said Toad. “This is a hard world!”
Rat looked at Badger.
“I feel like a bully,” he said.
“I know,” said Badger, “but we had to tell him. We don’t want anyone to laugh at Toad again.”
“I’m glad I stopped that little ferret,” Rat said.
“We’re lucky no one saw the invitations!”
“They were awful!” cried Badger.
At that moment, Mole was upstairs. He sat a table with letters and envelopes. He was writing now invitations.
