Episode 91: Supper at Home

Mole watched the ferrets clean the bedrooms. Then he marched them to the door.

“Our you go!” he said. “Don’t come back.”

He joined his friends in the kitchen.

“We found jelly and cold chicken,” said Toad.

“And here’s some bread and cheese,” said Rat.

They all sat down to supper.

“Did the ferrets sweep under the beds?” asked Badger.

“Yes,” said Mole.

“They put clean sheets on too?” asked Badger.

“I watched them myself,” said Mole.

“Is there fresh soap and clean towels?” said Badger.

“Everything is perfect!” said Mole.

“Good!” said Badger, smiling.

“It well be nice to sleep indoors on soft beds!”

“The ferrets said they were sorry,” said Mole.

“They blame everything on the Chief Weasel. They say he is a bully and a thief.”

“Well, I hope they learned a lesson!” said Badger.

The four friends were tired but happy.

“The dining hall is still a mess,” said Rat.

“It will take a week to clean it up.”

“Don’t worry about it now,” said Badger.

“My thanks to all of you,” said Toad. “You save my home.”

Rat and Mole smiled at him.

“Toad,” said Badger, “I never saw anyone fight so well!”

Toad smiled proudly.

“I usually say nice things about myself,” Toad thought.

“But it’s nicer when someone else says them!”

Toad was happy to be home again at Toad Hall.
