“神兽”出笼，用什么片子“镇”住他们？丨Weekend Movies

With all of Beijing's middle-school students back home from school starting Jan 23, under the COVID-19 prevention protocols, the winter vacation has kicked off a bit earlier than usual.
1月23日开始，随着全北京市的中学生们也加入“家里蹲”行列，寒假以提前的姿态, 全面拉开帷幕。

为响应防疫要求，北京的线下课外机构也全部停课。抓狂的首都老母亲们正火速重排寒假计划，但“神兽们”却开心得摇头摆尾——又有大把的时间，可以名正言顺地“摸鱼”啦！

The students may still have to attend online classes or do homework. But just as the saying goes that "life is not just about survival, but poetry and distance", there is something beautiful that parents could also recommend to their children: movies.

网课和作业或许不可或缺，但人生终究还有诗和远方。对于小朋友们，也有一份美妙值得推荐，那就是经典的电影作品。

Peking University professor Dai Jinhua wrote in her bookFilms for Children that she had etched in her mind one sentence when reading the French novel The Count of Monte Cristo at a young age. "Despite the fact that the sentence has few connections with the main storyline, it is very beneficial. It says: 'Your life could be completely changed if you read 50 excellent books.'"

记得北大教授戴锦华在《给孩子的电影》一书的序言中写到：“当我还是个孩子的时候，读《基督山伯爵》，牢牢地记住了一句与起伏跌宕的情节没什么大关联的话，大意是：读五十本精选的书，足以改变一个人的人生。”

She adds that, after she landed a teacher's job in the Beijing Film Academy many years later, she came to realize that watching 50 excellent films — if not enough to change a person's life — at least can enlarge one's horizon a lot. She has spent a lot of time watching classic films in the China Film Archive.

她说：“后来，我到北京电影学院任教，在几乎心醉神迷地‘沉迷’在电影资料馆里观看电影史著名影片之后，深深地体会到：看五十部精选的电影，如果尚不足以改变你的人生，也一定会充分地富足你的生命。”

In this unusual winter vacation, where the country is still battling COVID-19, we hope some classic films could bring youngsters warmth, joy and strength.

在这个依然对疫情严防死守、全面开展宅模式的寒假里，希望有些美好的电影可以带给“神兽们”温暖、欢乐和力量。

From My Neighbor Totoro to Ponyo on the Cliff, Japanese master Hayao Miyazaki's animated films offer good choices for children to kill time. Miyazaki builds worlds with such allure that every audience member would want to live in them.

从单纯美好的《龙猫》到目前正在上映的《崖上的波妞》（又译《悬崖上的金鱼姬》），宫崎骏老爷爷的每一部动画片几乎都可以无脑入。在他的影片里，他构建起一个美好的世界，让我们恨不得能住到里面去。

Without villains, evil adults or scary monsters, the wonderlands in most of Miyazaki's film are worlds where, if you meet a strange towering creature — such as Totoro — in the forest, you curl up on its lap and have a nap.

在宫崎骏的大多数影片中，没有绝对的恶棍、邪恶的成年人或是可怕的怪物。如果你在森林中遇到一个奇怪的高个子生物——譬如龙猫这样的——你只希望蜷缩在它的腿上打盹。

For urban children who probably lead comfortable lives, movies that depict hardship may offer good lessons to lead them to cherish their happiness.

但对于大城市里生活优渥的孩子们，有一些底色更为厚重的影片，或许能给他们上很好的一课，让他们更珍惜自己的幸福生活。

One such recommendation is the Iranian film Children of Heaven. It centers on Ali, a boy who loses his younger sister's only pair of shoes. As an attempt to avoid being punished by the parents, the boy makes a "secret" deal with his sister, who agrees to wear Ali's shoes to go to school. After she's off from the school, Ali will put on the couple of shoes to quickly go to his school. It's a heartwarming story that children from different cultural backgrounds can relate to.

伊朗影片《小鞋子》就是这样一部值得孩子们去细细体味的佳片。故事讲述小男孩阿里不慎丢失了妹妹仅有的一双鞋子。为免除父母的惩罚，他央求妹妹与他达成协议：每天妹妹上学时穿他的鞋子，然后下学后再换给他去上学。这是一个来自不同文化背景的孩子都能感同身受的感人故事。

Capernaum from Lebanon

 is also a sad yet thought-provoking film for children. It tells the story of Zain, a 12-year-old Lebanese boy who sues his parents for the "crime" of giving him life. The film follows Zain as he journeys from a gutsy, streetwise child to hardened 12-year-old "adult" fleeing his negligent parents, surviving through his wits on the streets. I cannot hold back my tears while watching this heartbreaking story.

《何以为家》也是一部悲伤却发人深省的电影。它讲述了一个12岁的黎巴嫩男孩扎因悲惨的生活经历。他控告自己的父母生下了他，却没有能够好好抚养他。

从混迹街头到被迫逃离家庭，苦苦挣扎求生存，扎因的世界是一个我们难以想象的世界，这也是一个会让你忍不住潸然泪下的心碎故事。

Meanwhile, the animation world is still full of enough joy and laughter to cheer up a lackluster afternoon, through such movies as Disney's golden-age classics The Lion Kingand the Toy Story franchise as well as Pixar’s hits like Soul.The Harry Potter films — one of the best fantasy franchises — would also stand the test of time to please children of different generations.

当然，孩童的世界依然应该充满欢声笑语。迪士尼“黄金时代”的经典影片总是历久弥新，如《狮子王》和《玩具总动员》系列，还有皮克斯的佳片如最近仍在上映的《心灵奇旅》等，足以欢愉一个沉闷的下午。而重温奇幻圈的“扛把子”——哈利·波特系列电影也是寒假里不错的选择。
