There are some new attractions in Tokyo: transparent public toilets.
The idea of using a public bathroom with see-through walls may sound terrible. But Shigeru Ban is hoping to change that view. He is a famous Japanese architect. He uses bright colors and new technology to make restrooms in Tokyo parks more popular.
“There are two things we worry about when entering a public restroom,” Ban said. “The first thing is cleanliness. The second is whether anyone is inside.”
Ban’s design is able to deal with both worries. The glass walls of a transparent public toilet allow people to see into it from the outside. But once a user enters the toilet and locks the door, the walls will turn non-transparent.
