President Xi Jinping on Wednesday sent a message to Joe Biden to congratulate him on his election as US president. Promoting the healthy and stable development of China-US relations not only serves the fundamental interests of the people in both countries, but also meets the common expectations of the international community, he said. 

11月25日，国家主席习近平致电约瑟夫•拜登，祝贺他当选美国总统。习近平在贺电中指出，推动中美关系健康稳定发展，不仅符合两国人民根本利益，而且是国际社会的共同期待。

Xi said he hopes the two sides will uphold the spirit of non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, focus on cooperation, manage differences, advance the healthy and stable development of China-US ties and join hands with other countries and the international community to promote the noble cause of world peace and development.

International test events for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing are set to be replaced by an adapted testing program for the COVID-19 pandemic.

As global travel restrictions are likely to remain for the coming months, Beijing 2022 organizers have decided to cancel a series of test events that had been planned for the first quarter of next year.

"It doesn't mean there will be no tests for our venues and games operation," a top Beijing 2022 organizing committee official told Xinhua. The COVID-19 vaccine candidate from Oxford University and Astra-Zeneca is up to 90% effective at preventing infection, according to data from Phase 3 testing.

There were no severe reactions or hospitalizations across 24,000 study participants in the UK, Brazil and South Africa, Oxford said in a statement on Monday when it posted interim results from late-stage testing.

The treatment, which requires a two-dose regimen, provided differing levels of protection against the virus when the dosage was altered.
