特斯拉CEO埃隆·马斯克的演讲--趁着年轻，去冒险吧！

Alright, thank you. So I've got about apparently five to six minutes to say the most useful things I can think of. I’m going to do my best.

And it was suggested that I distill things down to 3 items. I think I’ll go with four.

And I'll try, I think, I think these are pretty important ones. Some I'm going to make it sound like, well you've heard of it before. But it's worth reemphasizing.

我认为我讲的这些都非常重要，也许有些你们曾听过，但是我觉得确实值得再次强调。

I think the first is you need to work, if you depend on how well you want to do,

particularly if you want to start a company, you need to work super hard.

So what does super hard mean?

首先你需要工作，这取决于你想做到多好。特别是对于创业者，你需要超级努力地工作。超级努力是什么意思呢？

Well, when my brother and I was starting our first company, instead of getting an apartment, we just rented a small office and we slept on the couch and we showered at the YMCA. We're so hard up. We had just one computer.

我弟弟和我一起开创第一家公司的时候，我们租不起公寓，只租了一间小办公室。我们都睡在沙发上，在基督教青年会的澡堂里洗澡。我们很拮据，所以只买得起一台电脑。

So the website was up during the day, and I was coding at night. Seven days a week, all the time. And I briefly had a girlfriend at that period and in order to be with me,

she had to sleep in the office. So I work hard like every waking hour.

That's the thing I would say if you're particularly starting a company. And if you do simple math, say like that somebody else is working 50 hours and you're working 100, you'll get twice as much done in the course of a year as the other company.

特于那些要开公司的创业者，这就是我的特别建议。你可以简单算一下，如果别人工作50个小时，而你工作了100个小时，那么你公司在一年之内所做的事情肯定是别的公司的两倍。

The other thing I'd say that if you're creating a company or if you're joining a company,

the most important thing is to attract great people.

我要说的另外一点是，如果你要创立一家公司，或是加入一家公司，最重要的是要吸引那些厉害的人。

So either be, join a group that's amazing that you really respect. Or if you're building a company, you've got to gather great people. I mean, all the company is is a group of people that are gathered together to create a product or service.

如果要加入一个让你尊敬的特别好的团队，或者如果你准备创立一家公司，就要聚集一群很厉害的人。要知道公司就是一群人，聚在一起创造产品或服务。

And so depending upon how talented and hard working that group is, and the degree to which they are focused cohesively in a good direction, that will determine the success of the company.

这群人的本领越大，工作越勤奋，凝聚力就越强，目标越明确，公司就越有可能成功。

So, do everything you can to gather great people, if you're creating a company.

Then to focus on signal over noise. A lot of companies get confused. They spend a lot of money on things that don't actually make the product better.

所以如果你要创立公司，你就要尽可能聚集一群优秀的人。然后专注于重点，远离噪音。很多公司都搞错了，花了很多钱，都不是用在改进产品上面。

So for example, at Tesla, we've never spent any money on advertising. We put all the money into R & D and manufacturing and design to try and make the car as good as possible.

在特斯拉，我们从来不花钱做广告，我们所有的资金都用于研发、制造和设计上面，尽力生产更好的汽车。

And I think that's the way to go. So for any given company, just keep thinking about,

“Are these efforts that people are spending, are they resulting in a better product or service?" And if they're not, stop those efforts.

我认为公司就该这样。任何公司在任何时候都要思考：”人们花这么多精力去做的事情，是否能让产品或服务变得更好？“如果不能，就停止那些无谓的尝试。

And the final thing is, don't just follow the trends. So you may have heard me say that it's good to think terms of the physics approach from the first principles. Which is, rather than reasoning by analogy, you boil things down to the most fundamental truths you can imagine, and you reason up from there.

最后我要讲的是，不要跟随所谓的趋势。你可能曾听我说过，我认为好的思考方式是从第一性原理出发的物理分析方法。也就是说不要人云亦云，你分析事情时，应该要透过现象看本质，从根本出发进行推理。

This is a good way to figure out if something really make sense, or it's just whatever somebody else is doing. It's hard to think that way, you can't think that way about everything. It takes a lot of effort. But if you're trying to do something new, it's the best way to think.

这样你才能很好地判断某个事情是否真的行得通，而不只是别人说行就行。当然这是很难的，你不能什么事情都这样考虑。这需要很多精力，但是对于创新而言，这无疑是最好的思维方式。

And that framework was developed by physicists to figure out counter intuitive things, like quantum mechanics. So it's really a powerful, powerful method.

物理学也正是通过这种方式推导出了各种不可思议的理论，例如量子力学。所以说这是一个强有力的方法。

And so that's, and then I think there's a final thing I will encourage you to do is Now is the time to take risk. You don't have kids, your obligations, or sorry...Probably not, of course. But as you get older, your obligations increase. So and once you have a family, you start taking risk not just for yourself, but for your family as well.

我想最后我还有一点建议，我要鼓励大家要做的事，趁着年轻，去冒险吧。你们没有小孩，你们的责任...哦，抱歉，也许有些人已经有孩子了。随着年纪的增长，责任也会随之增长。有了家庭之后再去冒险，承担的风险就不是你一个人了，而是你整个家庭。

It gets harder to do things that might not work out. So now it's the time to do that.

Before you have those obligations. So I want to encourage you to take risks now, and to do something bold. You won't regret it. Thank you.
