I am going to give you idioms related to the color green

So, for most people St. Patrick’s Day is a day

for celebrating everything to do with Irish culture

really envious of what somebody else has
第二个是：to have a green thumb
So the next one is: to have a green thumb

And I would say in the summer months

my dad grows amazing food for us all

No, he really, really does. We have fresh tomatoes,

potatoes, beans, fruits, everything.

Now, all the vegetables taste delicious

So, if somebody has a green thumb it means that

下一个：To be green around the gills
The next one: To be green around the gills
Gills大概就是这里的缝 鱼用它来呼吸
Gills are slits here that fish use to breathe
所以 如果你green around the gills
So if you are green around the gills
你觉得这是什么意思呢？
what do you think that means?
我举个例子
I’ll give you an example

I sent Sharon home from work today because she looked a bit green around the gills

Now, the fourth idiom is: to give the green light
如果我给了某些东西the green light我这是什么意思呢？
If I give something the green light, what am I– What am I doing?
比如 我的老板给了我the green light让我开始新的宣传活动
So, say my boss gave me the green light to start my new campaign

如果你给某人the green light 意思就是你允许他们开始新项目
If you someone the green light it means you give them permission to start a new project
在工作场所这个俗语非常有用
It’s a useful one for the work place
最后一个俗语 第五个：to go green
Now the final idiom, idiom number five, is: to go green
如果我说：从现在开始 我决定to go green我要走路去上班了
So if I say: I’ve decided to go green, from now on I am going to walk to work
从现在开始 我决定to go green我要走路去上班了
I’ve decided to go green, from now on I am going to walk to work
to go green意思是为了更加环保而有意识的改变生活方式
So, to go green means to make a conscious life style change in order to be more environmentally friendly
走路上班比开车上班更环保
So walking to work is more environmentally friendly than driving to work
