It's a great pleasure to have been asked to be this group's patron, because I know how important your work is. I've seen firsthand how depression wrecks lives and how far the ripples which spread from it can affect friends and families.

Last year ITV's Tonight program made a film about teenage depression, and we met a girl with great academic and sporting promise, but who’d totally lost her way through mental illness. She became house bound by crippling depression and all but retreated from everyday life.
