Hello! Good evening! 晚上好！ I’m so happy to see you. I’m Shuhua, and it’s almost time to say good night.

你好！晚上好！很开心能见到你。我是树华。快到了要说晚安的时候。

But first, I want to talk with you about beginnings.

可是现在，我想跟你聊聊“开始”这件事。

Everything has a beginning. Even time might have a beginning, but I can’t imagine when that would have been.

凡事都有一个“开始”，甚至时间本身可能有了个开始点，虽然我没法想象那能是什么时候。

I have a beginning. I was born in 1985. But really, my story goes even farther back than that. My parents were born before me, and their parents were born before them. All of those people make me who I am. So, did I really begin in 1985? Or did I begin many, many years before that?

我有个开始。我1985年出生的。可是，我的故事的起点还是更早。我的父母的开始比我还早，然后TA们的父母的开始还是更早。这些人都会定义我的身份。所以我真的是1985年开始的吗？还是很多很多年前已经开始了？

I guess there are big beginnings and little beginnings. My big beginning was in 1985, but the pieces of who I am began before that. The last time you started a new job or went to a new school, it felt like a new beginning – but it’s just a small beginning inside of a larger story.

我估计我们都有“大开始”和“小开始”。我的大开始是1985年，可是我的身份的不同部分的开始还是很久以前。你上次开始了一份新工作或者去了一个新的学校，这就感觉像一个新的开始一样；可是这就是一个大的故事里面的小开始吧。

Soon, I will have to go back to the USA because of my visa. It feels like a new beginning to me, but that’s not really true. It’s just a new chapter in my story, and I look forward to sharing it with you.

过不久我因为签证所以要回美国。我感觉这也就是一个新的开始，可是这也不完全对。这就是一个新的篇章而已，而且这个新篇章我很期待与你分享。
