小雀斑埃迪·雷德梅尼 | 朗读绘本故事《佐格》

Hi there, my name is Eddie. And I am gonna read today is a book called ZOG which is a particular favorite of mine. It’s written by brilliant Julia Donaldson, and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

嗨，我是埃迪。今天我要读的是《佐格》，这是我格外喜欢的一本，作者是杰出的Julia Donaldson，插图来自Axel Scheffler。

Madam Dragon ran a school many moons ago. She taught young dragons all the things that dragons need to know. Zog, the biggest dragon was the keenest one by far. He tried his hardest every day to win a golden star.

龙女士几个月前开了一所学校，她教授给小龙们一切应知应会的事情。佐格是最大的一条龙，他是最积极的。为了赢得一颗金色的小星星，每天都努力练习。

All the dragons in year one were learning how to fly. “High,” Said Madam Dragon,” Way up in the sky! Now that you’ve been shown, you can practice on your own, and you’ll all be expert fliers by the time you are fully grown.”

所有一年级的小龙们都正在学习飞行，“高点，”龙女士说道，“一直飞到天上去！你们已经看过示范，可以自己练习了。等到你们长大后都会成为飞行大师的。”

Zog went off to practice, flying fast and free. He soared and swooped and looped the loop, then crashed into a tree. Just then a little girl came by, “Oh please don’t cry,” she said. “Perhaps you’d like a nice sticky plaster for your head.” “What a good idea!” said Zog. Then up and off he flew. His plaster gleaming pinkly as he zigzagged through the blue.

佐格去练习了，自由自在地快速飞着。他高飞俯冲绕圈转，接着撞到树上。就在那时，一个小女孩经过，“喔，别哭了。”她说道，“或许你需要在你的头上打个石膏。”“好主意！”佐格说道。他爬起来飞走了，石膏闪着粉色的光。

A year went by and in Year Two, the dragons learn to roar. “More!” said Madam Dragon, “Louder, I implore! Now that you’ve been shown, you can practice on your own and you will all be champion roars by the time you are fully grown.”

一年过去了，二年级的时候小龙们要学吼叫。“再来，”龙女士说道，“我要求你们，再大点声。你们已经看过示范可以自己练习了。等到你们长大后都能成为金嗓子。”

Zog went off to practice. He roared with fearsome force. He kept it up for hours on end, but then his throat grew hoarse. Just then the girl came by again, she said, “What rotten luck! Perhaps you’d like a nice soothing peppermint to suck?” “What a good idea!” said Zog. Then up and off he flew and breathing fumes of peppermint. He zigzagged through the blue.

A year went by and in Year Three, the dragons learn to blow. “No!” said Madam Dragon. “Breathe out fire, not snow! Now that you’ve been shown, you can practice on your own. And you’ll all be breathing bonfires by the time you are fully grown.”

三年级的时候小龙们要学吹气。“不是这样！”龙女士说道，“喷火，不是雪。你们已经看过示范，可以自己练习了。等到你们长大后都能喷出火焰。”

Zog went off to practice. He blew with all his might, he twirled around in triumph and his wing tip caught light. Just then the girl came by again. She said, “Oh you pool old thing. Perhaps you’d like a nice stretchy bandage for your wing?” “What a good idea!” said Zog. Then up and off he flew, his bandage flapping wildly as he zigzagged through the blue.

佐格离开去练习，他用全身的力量向外吹。他得意地转来转去，它的翅膀尖着了火。接着小女孩又经过，她说：“你这个可怜的小家伙！或许你想要给你的翅膀上好绷带？”“好主意！”佐格说道，他爬起来飞走了，他的绷带四处飘动，随着他蜿蜒飞过天空。

All the year four dragons were learning. . . Can you guess? “Yes!” said Madam Dragon, “How to capture a princess! Now that you’ve been shown, you can practice on your own. You ‘ll need to capture hundreds by the time you are fully grown.”

四奶奶记得小龙们在学习，你能猜到吗？“是的，”龙女士说道，“你们要学如何抓公主！你们已经看过示范，可以自己练习了。等到你们长大后倒要抓到几百个公主。

Zog went off to practice. He tried and tried and tried, but he simply couldn’t manage. “I’m not good at this,” he cried. “I’ll never win a golden star!” Just then he saw the girl, “Perhaps,” he said, “You’d like to capture me? I’m Princess Pearl.” “What a good idea!” said Zog. Then up and off they flew, the princess gripping tightly as they zigzagged through the blue.

佐格飞走去练习，他一次次尝试，却无法掌握。“我不擅长这个”他哭着说，“我赢不了小星星了！”就在那时他看到女孩，“或许”她说道“你可以抓住我。我是珍珠公主。”“好主意！”佐格说道，他们起来飞走了，公主紧紧搂着他，他们一起绕着飞过天空。

“Ah,” said Madam Dragan. “Our first princess so far. Congratulations, Zog, my dear. You’ve  won a golden star!” Zog was proud and happy and Pearl felt good as well. She took the dragon’s temperatures and nurse them when they fell.

“啊，”龙女士说，“我们的第一位公主。祝贺你，我亲爱的佐格，你赢得了一颗小星星。”佐格自豪又愉悦，珍珠公主也很快乐。他为小龙量体温，在他们摔倒时悉心照料

A year went by and in Year Five the dragons learned to fight. “Right,” said Madam Dragon, “Here comes a real live knight!” Up spoke the knight, “My name,” he said, “is Gadabout the Great. I’ve come to rescue Princess Pearl. I hope I’m not too late.” Zog breathed fire and beat his wings. “You can’t! She’s mine!” He roared. “Oh, no, she’s not!” Yelled Gadabout and weaved his trusty sword.

一年后小龙上了五年级，他们学习打仗。“好！”龙女士说道，“一个真正的骑士来了！”“骑士上前说道，他说”我的名字是盖德伯特大帝，我来是为了拯救珍珠公主。希望我来得不算太迟。”佐格边拍打着羽翼边喷火，他咆哮道：“你不能！他是我的！”盖德伯特喊道：“不，她不是！”手里挥舞着剑。

The other dragons crowed round and watched them, all agog.Who was going to win the fight, Sir Gadabout or Zog? Then Princess Pearl step forward, crying “STOP! You silly chumps! The world’s already far too full of cuts and burns and bumps. Don’t 、recue me! I won’t go back to being a princess and prancing round the palace in a silly frilly dress. I want to be a doctor, and travel here and there listening to people’s chests and giving them my care.”

其他的龙聚集起来，兴奋地看着他们。究竟谁能赢得战斗，盖德伯特还是佐格？珍珠公主站出来，哭着说：“停下来，你们这两个傻瓜！这个世界已经充满了伤口、杀戮和颠沛。不要拯救我！我不想再回去当个公主了，在宫殿里昂首阔步，套着愚蠢繁复的裙子。我想成为一个医生，四处周游，倾听人们的胸口，向他们给予关怀。”

“Me too!” Exclaimed the knight and took his helmet off his head. “I’d rather wear a nice twisty stethoscope,” he said. “Perhaps, Princess, you’ll train me up?” And Pearl replied, “Of course! But I don’t see how the two of us could fit upon your horse. Then Zog said, “Flying Doctors! I’d love to join the crew, if you let me be your ambulance then I can carry you.”

“我也是！”骑士惊叫道，他摘下了头盔，“我宁可带着弯弯曲曲的听诊器。或许公主，你愿意训练我？”公主回答道“当然。但不知道我们两个人你的马能不能挤得开? 然后佐格说：”飞行医生们！我也想加入，如果你让我当你们的救护车，我就可以载着你们。”

“Bravo!” said Madam Dragon. “And excellent career! And all the Year Five Dragons give a loud resounding cheer. The Madam Dragon told the horse, “I really hope you’ll stay. I’ll let me be my pupils’ pet and feed you lots of hay.” “What a good idea!” said Zog, then up and off he flew. The Flying Doctors waving as they zigzagged through the blue.

“太棒啦！“龙女士说：“了不起的职业！”然后所有五年级的小龙发出了响亮的招呼。接着龙女士对马说“我很希望你能留下。我会让你成为我学生们的宠物，并且喂给你许多的干草。”“好主意！”佐格说。他起身飞走了，飞行医生们招着手，随着他们弯绕曲折地飞过天空。
