篮球队的一员

我的小区曾组织过一次篮球比赛，出于对篮球的热爱同时也想锻炼身体，我就报名参加成为一号队伍的一员。但令我意外的是，报名参加的几乎都是男孩子，作为一个体型不大的女孩，我感到有些力不从心。很幸运，我的队友们都非常友善，并且很耐心地指导我。比赛那天我负责后卫的位置，虽然输掉了比赛，我却学会了许多团队配合的技巧也拉进了和社区里男生的感情。

Our community once organized a basketball competition and called for residents to join in. It was a5-a-side (五对五) game and normally only males would join. When I saw the poster on the wall, I decided to participate in it, not only because of my passion towards basketball but also for the need to getslimmer (苗条). After I registered, I played three times a week with my teammates, who were all boys. At first, I felt quiteself-conscious (害羞的) due to our gender difference and my poor shooting skills. A boy called Jack helped me and taught me basicdribbling skills (运球) with his gentle words and patience. Then we played a warm-up match. Gradually in the match, I found my talent for passing the ball to my teammates and being support. Through a series of training, I became our team’spoint guard (后卫).

In the game, with the trust of my teammates, I was so confident that I passed my ball withoutturnovers (失误). I had done my best I think, while the other team were too strong to beat. Sometimes I thought that probably it’s the gender gap in sport. However, I have seen girls beat boys in other sports competitions too. Anyway, although the result was ourdefeat (失败), I really learned a load of professional basketball skills and teamwork spirit. More importantly, I have built precious friendships with my partners.
