I fear this is a hopelessly inadequate way of trying to…to get a message to all of you that both my wife and myself are thinking of you so very much at such an incredibly difficult time and in such impossible and terrifying circumstances.

向各位传达这个信息，我其实担心这只是一种无力挽回的的尝试。我和我的妻子都非常担忧各位，因为你们正处在一个难以置信的困难时刻，一种绝望可怕的情况之下。

But I did want to say that both of us have been in despair [over] the last several weeks watching this appalling horror unfolding in Australia and witnessing so much of what you’re having to go through from this distance.

但我想说的是，在过去的几周中，我们都在绝望中看着这场恐怖的山火在澳大利亚境内不断蔓延，而我远在英国也目睹了各位所经历的一切。

Those of you who have tragically lost your properties, your houses, everything – to me – it is, and to both of us, not to be believed possible, and I know how many houses have been lost.

But above all, we…we wanted to say how much we have been thinking of all those remarkable, courageous, determined firefighters who’ve done so much and worked ceaselessly to exhaustion, and we feel so deeply with [for] the families of those who…who have been lost…who’ve lost their lives in the course of carrying out their remarkable duties, as only they can do.

但我们想说的最重要的是，我们和所有卓越非凡，英勇无畏，毅然决然的消防员们同在，他们付出不懈的努力，直到精疲力尽。我们的哀思和那些在履行其非凡职责中牺牲英雄的家人们同在，也只有他们（英雄）才能完成这非凡的壮举。

And we also think of all the…all the Australian wildlife that is destroyed in these appalling infernos, let alone everything else.

I know, we both know, just how incredibly special and resilient the Australian people are, so I know, at the end of the day, despite all this horror, you will find a way to…to face it all and win through, and all I can say is that we are thinking of you, we are praying for you in the most determined way. I’m very proud to know you all.

我知道，我们都知道，澳大利亚人民是多么的特别且坚韧。所以最终无论经历多少恐怖，你们都会找到一种方法…去面对一切并最终取胜。我只能说，我们的思念和你们同在，我们会以最坚定的方式为你们祈祷。我为你们所有人都感到自豪！
