写给低头族的诗（1）

I have 422 friends, yet I am lonely.

I speak to all of them every day, yet none of themreally know me.

我有四百多朋友，但我依旧孤独。

我每天跟他们讲话，可谁知我身在何处。

The problem I have sits in the spaces between,

looking into their eyes, or at a name on a screen.

到底该看看他们的眼睛，

还是盯着屏幕上的姓名。

I took a step back, and opened my eyes,

I looked around, and then realised

that this media we call social, is anything but

when we open our computers, and it's our doors weshut.

我后退一步，睁开双眼，环顾四周，终于发现

社交媒体，什么玩意儿，

打开电脑，再也没趣儿。

All this technology we have, it's just an illusion,

community companionship, a sense of inclusion, 

yet when you step away from this device of delusion,

you awaken to see, a world of confusion.

科技就是幻觉，社群都是包容

关机发现错觉，世界无比空洞。

A world where we're slaves to the technology wemastered,

where our information gets sold by some rich greedybastard.

我们创造科技，科技创造奴隶

我们贩卖信息，买家贪婪暴戾

A world of self-interest, self-image, self-promotion,

where we share all our best bits, but leave out theemotion.

追名，逐利，自我抬举

人前阳光，内心阴郁

We are at our most happy with an experience we share,

but is it the same if no one is there? 极乐来自分享

孤独有何好讲

Be there for you friends, and they'll be there too,

but no one will be, if a group message will do.

我们帮朋友，朋友帮我们

可群发一出手，谁还有灵魂

We edit and exaggerate, we crave adulation,

we pretend we don't notice the social isolation.

我们修图整容，为了一点奉承

我们佯装自己活得很萌

We put our words into order, until our lives areglistening,

we don't even know if anyone is listening.

我们润色发圈，让生活光彩夺目

我们哪感多想，是否有人关注

Being alone isn't the problem, let me just emphasize,

that if you read a book, paint a picture, or do someexercise,

孤独并不是个问题，让我再强调一下，如果你读本书、画幅画、或做些运动，你的生活是丰富多彩且活在当下的，

you are being productive, and present, not reserved orrecluse,

you're being awake and attentive, and putting yourtime to good use.

不是离群索居，只是把握现在

清醒投入生活，别被时光责怪

So when you're in public, and you start to feel alone,

put your hands behind your head, and step away fromthe phone.

下次大庭广众，再若无所适从，

试试别看手机，但让两手空空

You don't need to stare at your menu, or at yourcontact list,

just talk to one another, and learn to co-exist.

手机菜单多无聊，通讯录里没天堂

看看身边男和女，三言两语也无妨

I can't stand to hear the silence, of a busy commutertrain,

when no one wants to talk through the fear of lookinginsane.

列车里人满为患，可是人人漠然

好像谁先说话，就是疯人出院

We're becoming unsocial, it no longer satisfies

to engage with one another, and look into someone'seyes.

我们何其低能，怕与别人对视

曾经四海为兄，统统已成往事

We're surrounded by children, who since they wereborn,

watch us living like robots, and think it's the norm.

可怜今日亿万儿童，早已习惯无动于衷

It's not very likely you will make world's greatestdad,

if you can't entertain a child without using an iPad.

最棒的父亲不是你，

因为你只会玩游戏

When I was a child, I would never be home,

I'd be out with my friends, on our bikes we wouldroam. 

曾经我也还小，回家是种煎熬

最爱呼朋引伴，骑车天涯海角

We'd wear holes in our trainers, and graze up ourknees; we'd build our own clubhouse, high up in the trees.

鞋子处处是洞，膝盖常常是伤

可我们搭了房子，就在那颗树上

Now the parks are so quiet, it gives me a chill

to see no children outside and the swings hangingstill.

如今公园静也悄悄，令人不禁冷也萧萧

四外再无奔跑嬉笑，墙外秋千有谁去闹

There's no skipping or hopscotch, no church and nosteeple,

we're a generation of idiots, smart phones and dumbpeople. 没有跳绳、没有跳房子游戏、不去教堂、没有教堂的尖塔。我们是一个充满白痴、智能手机、和愚蠢人们的一代人。

没腿的孩子们，不跳房子不跳绳

无脑的大人们，没信仰也没心情

智能机好智能，让我虚度这一生。
