▍知识点：

1. typical adj. 典型的，有代表性的，普遍存在的；（disapproving贬义用法） （不良品质等）一向如此的
a typical food 
典型的食物 
It's just typical of Jane to spend all the money on shoes. 简就是那种把钱都花在鞋子上的人。 
-He phoned in at the last minute to say he wasn’t coming.
他在最后一刻打电话来说他不过来了。

2. gloomy adj. 忧愁的，沮丧的（unhappy and without hope）；悲观的；阴沉的（dark）
a gloomy person 一个忧愁的人
a gloomy expression 一个沮丧的表情 a gloomy economic forecast 一个悲观的经济预测 gloomy weather 阴沉的天气 

3. in fact 实际上（we use in fact to add more detailed information to what’s just been said） 

- Did she pass her driving test? 

- Yes, she did; in fact, she’s now taking an advanced driving test.

她已经考过了。事实上，她在考高级的驾照。 

The holiday was really disappointing – a complete disaster. In fact, it just rained all the time.

4. feed vt. 喂养；为……提供食物（to give food to a person, group, or animal）
If you feed your dog on biscuits, it's not surprising he's so fat.
如果你是用饼干喂狗，它长这么肥就不奇怪了。

6. be content with 对……满意、满足
Be content with what you have! 

对你拥有的满足吧！
be discontented with 对……不满意、不满足 

You may be very discontented with yourself. 

你可能对你自己很不满意。  

7. by means of… 用……的方式
means n. 方式；手段（a method, a way）
She tries to explain by means of sign language.
她试图用手语来解释。

8. change it for sth. more + adj. 为了更……的……而改变
I had enough easy life, and now I have strong desire to change it for anything more challenging.
我过够轻松的日子了，现在我渴望迎接更有挑战性的事情。
