Britain's oldest travel company Thomas Cookhas gone into liquidation and an operation has begun to repatriate 150,000 ofits passengers stranded overseas. The 178-year-old holiday company, also one ofthe world's biggest, collapsed after last-minute negotiations aimed at savingit failed, triggering what is being described as the biggest-ever peacetimerepatriation since World War II. The UK Civil Aviation Authority, a publiccorporation within the Department of Transport, said the tour operator had"ceased trading with immediate effect". It's reported that 9,000 jobswill be lost as a result of the collapse. The Financial Times reported thatpassengers booked on package holidays with Thomas Cook may not receivefinancial compensation until late November.

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi beatLiverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo toclaim a record sixth FIFA player of the year award, or FIFA World Player, onMonday. Messi, 32, led Barcelona to a fourth La Liga title in the past fiveseasons, scoring 36 goals and providing 15 assists in 35 league matches lastcampaign. Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric won the award last year, breakingup a years-long duel between Messi and Ronaldo for the prize. But Messiregained the honor for a record sixth time, having previously won FIFA's topaward in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.

The US Navy has finally acknowledgedfootage purported to show UFOs hurtling through the air. The objects seen inthree clips of declassified military footage are "unidentified aerialphenomena," Navy spokesperson Joe Gradisher confirmed to CNN. The termUFOs, which stands for "unidentified flying objects," is now usedless frequently by officials, who have instead adopted the term"unidentified aerial phenomena," or UAP. Gradisher also said thevideos were never cleared for public release. The clips, released betweenDecember 2017 and March 2018 by To The Stars Academy of Arts & Sciences,appear to show fast-moving, oblong objects captured by advanced infraredsensors.

China's first specifications for onlineaccommodation platforms was released on Monday in Beijing, in an effort toimprove online accommodation services, protect rights and interests ofconsumers and strengthen self-discipline of the platforms, according to theState Information Center. The standard will be applied to hotels, inns,homestays and other accommodation facilities that carry out online businessactivities. The specification defines main responsibilities of the platformsand their operators, in the aspects of information filling, review, andrelease, reservation and evaluation, and privacy protection. According to thespecification, the platform should also establish an emergency assistanceservice mechanism. When users encounter accidents and emergencies, theplatforms should provide emergency services related to accommodation.

根据国家信息中心消息，23日，我国在北京发布了首个在线住宿平台规范，旨在完善在线住宿服务，保护消费者权益，加强平台的自我约束。该标准将适用于酒店、旅馆、寄宿家庭等开展在线业务活动的住宿设施。在线住宿平台规范就信息的填写、审查和发布、预订评价、隐私保护等方面明确了在线平台和其经营者的主要责任。根据规范，住宿平台还应建立紧急援助服务机制，当住客遇到意外和紧急情况时，平台应当提供住宿相关的紧急服务。
