娜塔莉·多默尔 | 讲睡前故事《吉尔和小龙》

Hey, I'm Natalie. And this is a dragon. Dragons are very rare. I'm going to read you a story about a little girl and her fiery friend. It's called Jill and Dragon and it's by Lesley Barnes. 

哈喽，我是娜塔莉。这里有只小龙，龙可是非常稀有的动物噢。我要给小朋友们讲个睡前故事，主角是个小女孩，还有她“易燃易爆炸”的好朋友，故事名叫<吉尔和小龙>，故事作者是莱斯莉·巴恩斯。

"Happily ever after", said the last page in Jill's huge book. But Jill noticed that not everyone at the end of the book looked so happy. "Why are sad, Dragon?" asked Jill."The King hates me," said Dragon, his pathetic eyes looking up at her from the page. "All I can do is burn, scorh,singe, char and barbecue everything in the kingdom." "Don't worry, Dragon. You can come and live with me," exclaimed Jill. "I'm going to teach you how to do all my favourite things," said Jill to Dragon. 

“从此，他们过上了幸福的生活”，吉尔读完厚厚的故事书，最后一页这样写道。但是，吉尔发现故事的结尾并不是所有人都那么开心幸福。“你为什么不开心呀，小龙？”吉尔问道。"因为国王讨厌我“小龙回答到，他可怜兮兮的眼神穿过书本，就这么望向她。”我唯一能做的就是烧坏 烧焦 烧光 焚烧所有王国内的东西。”“不要担心，小龙，你可以搬过来跟我一起住，”吉尔安慰道。“我可以教你做一些我最爱做的事情。”吉尔对小龙说。

Jill taught Dragon all about flower-arranging. Jill taught Dragon about fashion. Jill taught Dragon how to play the trumpet. And finally, Jill taught Dragon how to host a tea party. Dragon looked sadder then ever. "I don't belong anywhere. All I do is burn with fiery breath," he said.Something at the tea table has caught Jill's eye. And she exclaimed"I have an idea, Dragon."

吉尔教小龙各种花艺，吉尔教小龙如何打扮得时尚，吉尔还教小龙怎么吹小号，最后，吉尔教小龙如何举办一次茶会。但是，小龙看起来从未如此伤心过。”我不属于任何地方，我什么都干不好。我就只会喷火。“他伤心地说。茶桌上的某样东西吸引了吉尔的目光，她大喊道：“小龙，我想到一个好主意。”

The next morning,armed with a fork, Jill jumped onto Dragon's back and they flew into the huge book. Angry knights greeted Jill and Dragon on the page. Jill feeling brave, jumped off Dragon and shouted, "Take us to the King!" Jill pulled a piece of bread out of her pocket, put it on the end of her fork and held it above her head. Carefully, Dragon began to char the bread, creating a striking, if rather flattering, portrait of His Majesty. 

第二天清晨，吉尔手持一把叉子，跳到小龙背上，然后他俩一起飞进了厚厚的故事书里。书里那些愤怒的骑士迎面而来，夹道欢迎。勇敢的吉尔从小龙背上跳下来，超骑士们大喊：”带我们去见国王！”接着，吉尔从口袋里拿出一片面包，把它放在叉子的前头，举过头顶，小龙开始小心翼翼地喷烤着面包。这个举动瞬间引起了围观，不吹不黑，国王殿下的肖像面包就这么出来啦。

The knights passed the toast protrait to the King. The King took the toast from the knights, he, nibbled a corner, then a second corner and then a third.After a long pause, his face lit up with a huge grin. He proclaimed, "This toast is truly fit for a king." But wait! Dragon was not finished yet. Jill pulled out more slices of bread and Dragon created even more intricate and wonderful designs. 

骑士们把这片土司肖像交给了国王。国王从骑士手中接过土司，啃下一个小角，又啃了一小块儿，接着再咬了一小块。一阵长时间的沉思之后，他脸上露出灿烂的笑容。他宣布：”这是一片为国王量身定做的吐司。“等一下，小龙还没结束呢。吉尔拿出了更多面包，小龙创造出了许多更复杂更精彩的吐司设计。

As Dragon toasted bread, day turned into night. The fire from Dragon's breath sent colourful sparks into the air, which lit up the sky like fireworks. The King bowed before Dragon and said,  "Dragon, you belong here. Come and live in my castle and make me toast." "We all have a happy ending now," said Jill to her dog as they read the last page in her book once more.

小龙就这么烘烤着面包，白天也悄悄变成了黑夜。小龙呼吸时喷出的火让空中火花四溅，像烟花一般，照亮了整个夜空。国王低着头走到小龙面前，他说：”小龙，你是属于这里的。住进我的城堡里吧，为我烤制更多的吐司。“”现在大家都有美好的结局啦。“吉尔对她的小狗说。于是，她又将故事书的最后一页重读了一遍。

Now wasn't it nice of Jill to make sure Dragon had a happy ending, too? Would you like to eat a piece of toast made by a dragon? Like this one! It looks just like Jenson,doesn't it? Hm! It's a big slice of toast. Maybe I'll save that for my breakfast. Join me again soon for another Bedtime Story. But now it's time for sleep. Sweet Dreams! 

吉尔想让小龙与有个美好的结局，她是不是善良呀？”小朋友们，你们也想吃一片小龙烤的吐司么？比如这一片！看上去是不是和詹森一模一样呢？嗯，这还真是一片大吐司呢！也许我可以留着当我的早餐哟。小朋友们，下次的睡前故事也要来听喔。但现在，是时候乖乖睡觉咯~
