第一幕

In a far-away land, there is a king who loves to brag.

在遥远的地方有个国王，他非常喜欢浮夸。


He loves parties.

他喜欢热闹的宴会。
He loves parades.

他喜欢盛大的游行。
And he loves clothes very much!

他尤其喜欢华丽的服装！


One day, he plans a parade.

一天，他在策划一场盛大的游行。
And he wants new clothes for the parade.

他当然想要身着华丽的新衣服出席。
ALL DAY LONG!

挑了整整一天！
“What would be the best color?

“哪个颜色最好看呢？”
What would be the best pattern?

“哪个款式最棒呢？”
What would be the best one for the parade?”

“到底哪件衣服最适合这次游行呢？”

第二幕

Two tailors visit the king.

这时，两个裁缝要求面见国王。
And they say,“We will make you the best clothes in the world.”

他们告诉国王：“我们将为您做出世界上最好看的衣服。”
The king is very excited.

国王自然非常高兴。
“Hurry up!” says the king.

“那就赶紧准备吧。”国王下令。


After they leave, the king thinks about the clothes.

裁缝们离开王宫后，国王一直在想象这套衣服的样子。
ALL THE TIME!

想啊想，想啊想。
The king sends his man to the tailors.

国王还是想象不出来，便让自己的亲信前往查看。

第三幕

“How is the work going?” asks the man.

“衣服做得怎么样啦？”亲信问道。
“Everything is fine. We're almost done,”say the tailors.

“一切都很顺利。我们马上就做好了。”裁缝们回答。
However, the tailors are cheats.

但是，这两个裁缝根本就是骗子。
They lie to the King's man.

他们撒谎骗过了国王的亲信。
They pretend to cut and sew the clothes.

只是假装在那里裁裁剪剪缝缝补补的。


And they say,“Look! Do you see these beautiful clothes?”

“看看！你看到这套漂亮的衣服了吧？”
“You can see if you are a good person,”say the cheats.

“如果你是个好人，肯定能看到。”裁缝们信口开河。
The king's man cannot see anything.

国王的亲信其实什么也没看到。
But he is afraid of saying the truth.

但他不敢这么说，他相信自己是个好人。
So he says,“The clothes are so beautiful!”

于是他也应和道：“哇，这套衣服太漂亮啦！”


The king's man goes back to the king.

亲信返回王宫面见国王。
“Dear king, the clothes are so beautiful!” says the man.

“尊敬的陛下，我亲眼所见，您的新装太漂亮了！”亲信向国王汇报。

第四幕

At the parade, the king wears no clothes.

到了游行那天，国王隆重出席，什么衣服也没穿。
All the people laugh and say,

所有人都哈哈大笑：
“The king is naked!

“快来看啊！我们的国王什么都没穿就跑出来了！”
The king is naked!”

“快来看啊！我们的国王光天化日之下竟然赤身露体！”
