Cinderella

仙履奇缘

Once upon a time in a faraway (遥远的)land, a beautiful girl named Cinderella (仙蒂) livedwith her devoted (挚爱的) father. Cinderella’s mother had passedaway years before, and her father decided she needed a new mother. He marriedagain, giving Cinderella a stepmother and two stepsisters.

很久以前，在一个遥远的地方，有一个美丽的女孩名叫仙蒂，她和她挚爱的爸爸住在一起。仙蒂的妈妈很多年前去世了，她的爸爸觉得她需要一个新妈妈。他又结婚了，于是仙蒂有了一位继母，还有两个姐姐。

When Cinderella’s father suddenly passed away, she was heartbroken (伤心欲绝的).The poor girl quickly discovered that her stepmother, Lady Tremaine (特曼妮夫人),was cold, cruel, and bitterly (十分) jealousof Cinderella’s charm (魅力) andbeauty. Her stepsisters, Anastasia (安蒂) andDrizella (狄茜), were equallycruel.

后来，仙蒂的爸爸突然去世了，仙蒂伤心欲绝。这个可怜的姑娘很快就发现，她的继母特曼妮夫人是个冷漠又残暴的人，她十分嫉妒仙蒂的魅力与美貌。而仙蒂的两个姐姐，安蒂和狄茜也一样冷酷。

As the years passed, Cinderella became aservant in her own home. She was forced (被迫) to livein a tiny room in the attic (阁楼) and hadto wait on her stepfamily all day long. Luckily, Cinderella’s animal friendskept her company.

很多年过去了，仙蒂成了家里的仆人。她只能住在阁楼的一个小房间里，每天都要侍奉她的继母和姐姐们。幸运地是，动物朋友们一直陪伴着仙蒂。

Though her stepfamily mistreated (虐待)her, Cinderella believed her dreams would come true someday. She remained (依然)kind and gentle, even sewing (缝制) littleclothes for her mice friends and making sure they were always safe and fed. Twoof the mice, Jaq (杰克) and Gus (格斯), becameCinderella’s best friends.

尽管她的继母和姐姐们对她很不好，仙蒂还是相信她的梦想有一天能实现。她依然温柔又善良，她经常给她的老鼠朋友们织小衣服，确保他们能吃饱穿暖又平安。其中两只老鼠，杰克和格斯，成了仙蒂最好的朋友。

One morning, poor Gus was almost caught bythe Stepmother’s mean old cat, Lucifer (鲁斯福)!Luckily, Gus managed to slip (滑) awayand hide under a teacup on a breakfast tray (托盘).

有一天早上，可怜的格斯差点被继母的老坏猫鲁斯福抓住！幸好，格斯成功地滑了出来，藏在了早餐盘上的茶杯下面。

Just as Lucifer was about to discoverGus’s hiding place, a bell rang. That meant Lady Tremaine and her daughterswanted their breakfast. Balancing the trays, Cinderella hurried up the stairs,unaware that she was carrying a little stowaway (偷渡者) underone of the teacups.

就在鲁斯福马上就要发现格斯的藏身地时，铃声响了。这就是说，特曼妮夫人和她的两个女儿想要吃早餐了。仙蒂端平了托盘，赶紧上了楼梯，她没发现茶杯下面还有个小小的偷渡者呢。

Shortly after breakfast was served (端上),Cinderella heard screams. Anastasia had found Gus under her cup! She accused (指责)Cinderella of serving her a mouse on purpose!

就在上完早餐不久后，仙蒂听见了尖叫声。安蒂发现了茶杯下面的格斯！她指责仙蒂是故意给她上了一只老鼠！

Cinderella was immediately summoned (传唤)back to Lady Tremaine’s room. “As punishment (惩罚),” herstepmother said, “you will wash the windows, scrub (擦洗)the terrace (阳台), and sweep the hall.”

仙蒂立刻被叫到了特曼妮夫人的房间。“作为惩罚，”她的继母说道，“你要把窗户、阳台、门厅全都打扫干净。”

Meanwhile, in another part of the kingdom,the King was complaining (抱怨) to theGrand Duke (大公爵).

而与此同时，在王国的另一边，国王正在向大公爵抱怨。

“It’s time the Prince got married!” hedeclared.

“王子是时候该结婚了！”他宣布。

The King decided to invite every eligible(适龄的)maiden (未婚女孩) to a royal ball (舞会)so his son could find a bride.

国王决定邀请所有的未婚适龄女孩儿参加王室舞会，让王子从中选择一位新娘。
