We called tough love. To our children, we tried to combine the best of Chinese and the best of American method to teach them. Like, we want them hard working, discipline. We also want encouragement of love for them to learn Chinese. When they’re babies, I’ve been doing flashcards and talking to Chinese with them. But as a result of that, they had that Chinese environment. I didn’t force them to learn Chinese, but they both be perfect at Chinese. So they worked. But they didn’t work on Rupert.
