背景拓展：

吉普赛人以其神秘的形象著称，从未建立过自己的国家。因为喜欢迁徙和流浪，多从事占卜、歌舞等职业。因为流浪与贫穷，他们有着与之相关的特殊生活方式与求生方法，比如喜欢乞讨，没吃时不免偷窃，据说还做人贩子。加上他们拒绝融入主流社会，因此使得主流社会的人们对他们一直保有极其不好的印象，认为吉普赛人是乞丐、小偷或者人贩子——当然这多少有些以偏概全。

再来说吉普赛女郎，她们的美丽和狂野结合起来有种特别的美丽，所以作家在小说里，就喜欢用她们的形象去歌颂自由与对爱情的赞美，比如《巴黎圣母院》Notre-Dame de Paris 和《卡门》Carmen，里面的女主角都是勇敢追求爱情而又热情奔放的吉普赛女郎。
