A porcelain masterpiece from Chinese Emperor Qianlong's imperial collection will go under the hammer in Hong Kong for a fall sale, the auction house Sotheby's announced. The 16-inch antique is said to be the matching piece to another Chinese vase, which was sold for an astonishing ￡43 million at the Bainbridge auction house in 2010. 
苏富比拍卖行近日宣布，乾隆皇帝御藏的一件瓷器珍品将于秋季在香港拍卖。据称，这一高16英寸的古董和另一个中国花瓶本是一对。2010年，后者在英国班布里奇拍卖行被以4300万英镑的天价售出。

The two vases reportedly feature almost the same openwork design, with only a slight difference in the fish patterns carved and painted on them. Said to be once displayed at an exhibition in New York in 1905, the rare piece was purchased by a Japanese collector in 1924, and remained in a private collection for almost a century.

Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk said Friday that he is giving up on taking the company private in the wake of shareholders' objections, 17 days after he shocked the business world with a tweet announcing his intention to pursue the idea. 
特斯拉汽车公司首席执行官埃隆•马斯克24日表示，在遭到股东们的反对后，他将放弃将公司私有化。17天前，他曾发推文宣布有意推行公司私有化，震惊整个商界。

In a post on the company's website, Musk said he had informed Tesla's board Thursday that "I believe the better path is for Tesla to remain public." Tesla directors released a statement on Friday night saying, "we fully support Elon as he continues to lead the company moving forward." Musk said he made the decision to remain public after consulting Tesla's large and small shareholders, as well as after concluding that the undertaking could impair efforts to boost production of its new sedan that are crucial to his strategy for Tesla.

 "I knew the process of going private would be challenging, but it's clear that it would be even more time-consuming and distracting than initially anticipated," Musk wrote. "This is a problem because we absolutely must stay focused on ramping up the Model 3 and becoming profitable."

Geese invade US village

Some residents in the Long Island village of Brightwaters are crying fowl, claiming the Canada geese population has gotten out of hand and something has to be done. Drive around the village and you'll spot all sorts of stop-gap measures to deter the avian aggravators from setting up shop, things like motion-activated sprinklers, barely there fishing line forming makeshift fencing and fake coyotes  covering lawns.

However, the village did unleash dogs onto their bay beach to keep the sand clean for the kids. But not everyone agrees with the wild goose chase. Lovers of local waterfowl want it to be known - geese belong here.

Wrinkles linked to heart health

Deep forehead wrinkles may be an early sign of cardiovascular disease, researchers have warned. A study presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in Munich found that people with more wrinkles than is typical for their age had a higher risk of dying from the condition. 
研究人员警告称，前额皱纹深也许是心血管疾病的早期征兆。在慕尼黑举办的欧洲心脏病学会大会上发表的一项研究发现，皱纹比同年龄段的人更多的人死于心血管疾病的风险更高。

Researchers said the wrinkles could be linked to atherosclerosis - the hardening of arteries due to plaque build-up. Atherosclerosis is a major contributor to heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems. The study suggested the tiny blood vessels in the forehead may be more sensitive to plaque build-up meaning wrinkles could be a sign of the vessels ageing.
研究人员称，皱纹可能与动脉粥样硬化有关。动脉粥样硬化指因血小板聚集导致的动脉变硬，是心脏病等心血管问题的主因。研究认为，前额细小的血管或许对血小板聚集更加敏感，这意味着皱纹可能是一种血管老化的迹象。
