坏脾气的人

The prince was sick.

王子病了。

He was put to bed with a royal ice pack on his head.

他头上戴着冰袋躺在床上。

His mother said,

他妈妈说，

“It might be mumps.”

“可能是腮腺炎。”

“No,”said the nurse.

“不，”护士说。

“He’s got the grumps.”

“他脾气暴躁。”

All day long he mumbled and moaned.

整天嘟囔着，呻吟着。

Sometimes he grizzled.

有时他发脾气。

Sometimes he groaned.

有时他呻吟着。

What had made him so down in the dumps?

是什么使他如此垂头丧气?

The nurse said,

护士说:

“That’s the way with grumps.”

 “脾气不好的人就是这样。”

Some children came near the royal bed.

一些孩子走到皇家的床边。

“We know the cure for grumps,” they said.

他们说:“我们知道治疗脾气坏的方法。”

The nurse was cross and cried,

护士生气了，叫道:

“What chumps!

“什么!”

There is no cure for a case of the grumps.”

脾气坏的人是没有办法医治的。”

The children smiled and said to the nurse,

孩子们笑着对护士说:

“We’ll try before the grumps get worse.”

“我们要在坏脾气的人更坏之前试一试。”

So they went to the prince and told a joke.

于是他们去找王子，讲了一个笑话。

And when they laughed, the prince awoke.

当他们笑的时候，王子醒了。

They danced a dance.

他们跳了一支舞。

They sang a song.

他们唱了一首歌。

The prince sat up and sang along.

王子坐起来，跟着唱了起来。

They jumped on his bed with bouncy bumps and told funny stories to cure his grumps.
他们蹦蹦跳跳地跳到他的床上，讲有趣的故事来治疗他的坏脾气。

When the queen came in to see her son,

当王后来看她的儿子时，

the prince was having a heap of fun.

王子正玩得很开心。

But the nurse was looking down in the dumps.

但是护士看起来垂头丧气的。

Now she was the one with a case of the grumps.
现在她是一个脾气暴躁的人。
