“My name is Bao Min. Everyone at work calls me Auntie Bao. I joined Siemens in1994. I work as a salesperson for Digital Factory Division and ProcessIndustries and Drives Division OEM East China Region.”

What you’ve heard just now is the voice of Siemens China’s super sales Auntie Bao. She is a legendary figure known for her achievements. During her 22 years at Siemens, she has won total sales orders totaling more than 1 billion yuan.

It sounds amazing, right? Yes, today, let’s get to know Auntie Bao and listen to her secrets of sales success.

Auntie Bao’s success recipe number one is to have a keen eye on potential customers. When Auntie Bao came to Shanghai 17 years ago, her sales target for the first month was 230,000 yuan. It was very challenging for her at that time, but she was so determined to reach her target.

“Where there’s a will, there is a way!” 

She expressed her determination in a gentle Suzhou accent.

Whenever she found a clue for potential customers, she wrote it down immediately and followed this up with calls and visits.

Thanks to her hard work, she achieved her target for thefirst month. And, surprisingly, her sales figures doubled the next month.

Secret number two was to be proactive to meet her goals. Auntie Bao’s life motto was that “you can never wait for opportunities.”

Once she found a potential customer, she got in touch with the right people such as decision makers or managers to get to know the customer’s needs in details.

In Auntie Bao’s words, the process was a bit like having a romantic love affair. Whenever young people fall in love, they try hard to approach the ones they love. Once they get his or her attentions, then, it was the first step to success.

“It is quite normal to be rejected when someone tries to start a relationship with someone at the beginning. Sometimes, you just have to show your sincerity and try once more. Similarly, sales people should quickly recover from frustrations and set backs. There is always a way. As long as you persist, you’ll make it. It is all about doing your work, so don’t feel embarrassed.”

Host: Hi, Auntie Bao, we are so glad that your story was very popular after it was released, what do you think?

Auntie Bao: “It is a great honor for me and Ihave to work hard for the company in return for the good life it has brought tome over the years.”

Host: As far as I know, you have retired from Siemens. Is there anything that you’d like to share with us?

Auntie Bao: I am very grateful for this job at Siemens because it makes me able to bring up my son and afford his tuition fees abroad. After his graduation from college, he has got a decent job and settled down in Shanghai. Also I appreciate that Siemens offered me a platform to know my customers. In the beginning, it was business relationship. Then it turned to be friendship. My customers have become fans of Siemens. Great thanks to the company. I have got to know so many young people at work. We help each other and we learn from each other. They have brought me fresh energy in everyday work.

At the end of 2016, Auntie Bao retired after sending out her last email. She no longer works at Siemens, but her words and actions still influence the employees of Siemens.
